New Character Points!
Wed 31 Jan 2024This term sees the launch of our new Moulsham High School ‘Character Points’. This will replace the BFL (Behaviour for Learning or Achievement Points). The new points system is inline with our whole school ethos of ‘Enjoy, Enrich, Achieve’ to nurture the students ‘Character’ which is a fundamental part of their development.
Assemblies have taken place as part of the launch explaining the importance of all these Character Values and given examples of how they can achieve Character Points from staff whether it is in lesson, around school, or involvement in extra-curricular activities.
Students will keep the points that they accrued so far but from this term on, they will be renamed as ‘Character Points’ and issued under the 9 Character Virtues. They initially count for 1 point (same as BFLs) and staff can award up to 3 points at a time. We will continue to celebrate in assemblies the House, Forms, and individual students that are achieving the most points.
Here are just some examples of New Year, New Term goals that students can do to develop Character and achieve Character Points:
- Join a new club
- Undertake the Moulsham Award
- Complete online learning such as Mathswatch
- Enter a House competition
- Read at least 3 books before ½ term
- Research careers or courses
·
Aim to achieve at 1 character point a day
Thanks to our Student leadership team: Will Smith, Heidi Ryder, Ellie Matthams, Jack Roberts, Rory Aisworth and Ruby Walker for contributing to the launch with students whilst also undertaking their Year 13 Prelims.

Year 7 Trip to Stubbers Adventure Centre
Tue 03 Oct 2023It was a day to remember for our Year 7 students as they gathered excitedly in the playground ready for a day of adventure. After a short coach journey full of excitement and chatter we arrived ready to make memories to last a lifetime.
Stubbers Adventure Centre, served as the perfect backdrop for our students to embrace new challenges, take on thrilling trials, and bond together as a new year group. From high and low ropes courses to laser tag and even axe throwing, our students got to build more than just their physical prowess.
Overall the day at Stubbers was a resounding success and we were immensely proud of the way in which our year 7 students conducted themselves. It was wonderful to see them building bonds and encouraging each other along the way.

Bridge Academy Trust Book Awards
Tue 27 Jun 2023Moulsham' Library hosted the first BAT Book Awards Ceremony on 22nd June.
Students from Moulsham High, Notley High and Ramsey Academy came together to celebrate and discover which book had been voted as our winner. Five books had been shortlisted and this was the second visit to Moulsham High for Book Club students, who had also joined us last term for author Ele Fountain’s visit. It was great to meet again and hear about how Ele’s visit had inspired them.
Students voted the spooky and funny Dread Wood by Jennifer Killick as our 2023 winner! This book about a Saturday detention at Dread Wood High School really grabbed the attention of our students!
We awarded certificates and prizes for Most Enthusiastic Book Group Member (jointly awarded to Olga (Year7) and Sophie (Year 8), Best Review, Best Poster and Best Creative Writing.
It was great to see students chatting to each other about their favourite books and working together to win the book-related quizzes. We had a fantastic day and are looking forward to the BAT Book Awards 2024!
We were pleased with all the positive feedback from Notley and Ramsey students. Comments from Moulsham High students included:
'I loved the BAT Book Awards! The quizzes were so much fun and it was nice meting with other schools. It was no surprise Dread Wood won as I really enjoyed the book!' - Ashlee Year 7
'I really enjoyed the BAT Book Awards. Melt was my favourite book – I was disappointed it didn’t win! I hope to do it again next year' - Madeline ( Year7)
