  • Jack Petchey Speakout Challenge Success!

    Wed 29 Sep 2021

Back in June, thirty Year 10s (now Year 11) took part in the Jack Petchey Speak Out Challenge. It was a great day and four students were selected to video a speech for the English department to choose Moulsham’s representative in the competition for 2021. Henry BR was the chosen champion to represent Moulsham and on Thursday 23rd September 2021 he took part in the virtual Regional Final. It was a hugely competitive field and sadly Henry didn’t make the top three places, however he did exceptionally well and did the school proud. Well done Henry!

  • Jacobs’ STEM Workshop - 23/9/2021

    Thu 23 Sep 2021

Today we welcomed Jacobs, the civil engineering and consultancy company, appointed by Essex County Council to deliver Chelmsford’s Army and Navy roundabout redevelopment.

Year 10/12 students recieved presentations from a number of experts in the fields of Digital Virtualisation, Transport Planning, Engineering, Stakeholder Engagement, Communications and Environment.

These workshops provided a fantastic insight into #STEM careers, showcasing industry knowledge and technology, encouraging and informing students regarding the possibilities of a career in these fields, with some surprising outcomes. Who knew that a civil engineering company, also relies on employees as experts in the fields of; digital communications, journalism, human resurces etc as well as the usual engineering experts!

The virtual reality goggles workshop was a definite favourite of most students!

Students were also offered a chance to vote for their preferred option of redevelopment plan design at the end of the session.

We shall certainly be looking into the careers / work experience opportunities available at Jacobs to aid our students too!

  • Year 12 Enrichment Day

    Fri 17 Sep 2021

    Year 12 Enrichment Day

Rounders and Football were just some of the actives enjoyed by the Year 12 students in their first enrichment period last Wednesday. Run by the new SLT (Student Leadership Team) of Year 13, and teachers of the Sixth Form Team (Mrs Englebrecht and Mr Onions), in an effort to reward the hard work and enthusiasm of the Year 12 students. Not only this, but the event allowed students to bond with each other and with the Year 13 SLT, which is hopefully the first of many events this year.

Special credit should go out to the Sport and Health department of the Student Leadership Team who oversaw the entire event, and the work of the Hospitality Team who supplied refreshments. Although there were no scores collected (but I’m sure the winning team know who they are) all the Year 12s participated and ‘had a jolly good time’ (quote from Mr Onions- who ran the Rounders pitch).
