    Dear Parent/Carer,

I hope that this finds you and your family well.

This unusual Summer Term seems to have got off to a good start.  Staff are extremely grateful for your support with home learning.  We are very aware that this can be challenging at times and while students should, of course, aim to complete all of the work that has been set, we fully understand that this may not always be possible.  Please do what is reasonable for your family to manage each day.

If there is time at the end of the school day, it can be helpful for an adult or older sibling to sit down with your child  and ask them questions about what they have learnt.  This is more likely to embed the learning into their long-term memory this way . If they cannot remember, ask them to go back over the work the next day and try to ask them the questions again.  Examples of questions which could be asked in any subject are:

    • What are the three most important things you learnt in…?

    • Can you finish the sentence “Today I have learnt …”

    • Give me an example of …. (related to a specific topic)

If your child does not have access to a computer at home and you have not already made us aware of this, please contact the school office on 260101.

School remains open each day for the children of key workers and a small number of other students.  Please note, however, that we will be closed on Friday, 8 May (Bank Holiday).

    Yours sincerely,

    Miss Mead

    Dear Parent/Carer,

I hope that this e-mail finds you and your family safe and well.

Today marks the end of what has been a momentous term for Moulsham High School.  The Ofsted inspection in January, the tragic loss of Mr Brown in February and the current pandemic have presented both staff and students with an unprecedented series of challenges that could not have been foreseen when the term started.  Throughout these difficult times, I have been impressed by the commitment of our staff, the character of our students and the strong sense of community that exists within our school.  I would also like to thank you for your continued support which has been greatly valued.

During the Easter holiday, the school remains open for the children of key workers and a small group of other learners, with the exception of Good Friday and Easter Monday.  From Monday, 6 April, Mildmay Infant School and Mildmay Junior School will also be moving into the quad to complete the Chelmsford hub of the Bridge Academy Trust.  They are operating as separate units and, to comply with social distancing requirements, they will not be mixing with MHS staff or students.

The Bridge Academy Trust has requested that teachers do not set daily work on ShowMyHomework over the holiday period.  This will resume on Monday, 20 April.  Students should check to see, however, if any holiday tasks have been uploaded for them this week.

Although this will be an unusual Easter holiday, I hope that you and your family will be able to enjoy it in some way.

    Yours sincerely,

    Miss J Mead
