Train to teach
Why teach?
Teaching is a hugely-rewarding career where you will be able to use the knowledge gained from your degree and go home every day knowing you have made a difference. Moreover, good teachers are in demand and almost 100% of our trainees have gone on to secure a job after completing the course.
Could you inspire the next generation?
Mid Essex ITT is an Ofsted-outstanding School-Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) scheme, which works with 23 schools across Essex, including Moulsham High School. Each year, they train up to 60 trainees, many of whom are former students from local schools.
Do you have a passion for learning?
Mid Essex ITT are looking for trainee teachers to start in September 2024 in the following subjects: Art & Design, Biology, Business Studies, Chemistry, Computer Science, Design & Technology, English, Geography, History, Mathematics, Media Studies, Modern Foreign Languages, Music, PE, Physics, and RE.
Do you fancy a starting salary of £25k?
Once qualified, teachers will have a starting salary of at least £25k. You may also be interested to know that you could be eligible for a tax-free bursary or scholarship of up to £28,000 while completing the course.
Would the course suit you?
Mid Essex ITT offer both a one-year, full-time course and a two-year part-time course. Both of these are based predominantly in a placement school, with one day of training with the Mid Essex team. At the end of the course, you will be awarded Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) along with a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE), accredited by Anglia Ruskin University.
How do I apply?
To be eligible to apply, you need to have (or be about to achieve) a degree at 2:2 or above and GCSE Maths and English at grade 4 or above (formerly grade C). You can apply via DfE Apply and Mid Essex ITT can offer you guidance on this, too.

Mid Essex Initial Teacher Training, the teacher training provider we work with here at Moulsham High School has announced it has retained its Ofsted-Outstanding grading following an intensive four-day inspection in February 2024.
Founded in 1994, Mid Essex ITT is based upstairs in Braintree Sixth Form, Notley High School and trains up to 60 teachers in a year, most of whom then go on to work in local Essex schools.
Mid Essex ITT was last graded Outstanding in October 2017, and this new report is absolutely a reflection of the hard work and dedication of not just the leadership team, but of all those working alongside us in partnership schools.
Mid Essex ITT Director Sophie Allchin said: “Mid Essex ITT is led by a small but dedicated Leadership Team. However, we would not be able to operate without the support of our 16 partnership schools who make up the wider Mid Essex ITT team.
"Candidates who train with Mid Essex ITT benefit from the support of a variety of professionals from our schools, including mentors, subject experts and trainers who are specialists in their field.
"Many of our mentors trained with Mid Essex ITT themselves and carry on their love of learning by training new entrants to the profession.“
