Moulsham High Students in Regional Final of English Schools Cross Country Cup
Thursday 16th November 2017 - Moulsham High School students performed extremely well in the first round of the English Schools Cross Country Cup and a number of students were selected to compete in the Regional Finals with the Junior boys (Year 7 and Year 8) and the inter girls (Year 9 and Year 10). The first three teams in this competition make qualification to the National finals.
The boys finished third in the first round, and it was always going to be tough. They had already run during the previous week in the Districts, and they came 8th in what should have been 12 teams represented, beating Brentwood School who had beaten Moulsham High School in the first round. There was a phenomenal run from year 7 Tom W, who came 13th against boys who were a year older. The rest of the team also performed really well with Tom I 37th, Daniel P 46th, Jacob A 47th, Alexander L 49th and Ben B 55th.
Up next were the inter girls, in what proved to be a very tough and close competition. Our scoring four all finished in the top 21, with year 9 Lauryn W continuing her amazing week by finishing in 6th place, even after losing her shoe at the start. Next up was Faye S 18th, Olivia R 19th, Hannah B 21st, Sienna W 51st and Lauren D 56th.
Unfortunately, on the day it wasn't to be, and we missed a place in the National final by 3 points being beaten by the tough and somewhat selective Coopers, Southend High and Eastwood.
Mrs Whitmarsh from Moulsham High said “A huge well done to all students who took part. This was an excellent effort by all involved.”
