Moulsham CCFC Academy take on Romford U19s

On Wednesday afternoon, our Chelmsford City Academy played a home game at Moulsham, against Romford, in a National League U19 Alliance match.

The game started off rough for Chelmsford when four minutes in, Romford scored with a volley straight down the middle. Fifteen minutes later Romford crossed it in again, across the box and tapped it in to make it 0-2.

Half an hour in, a tap in from Niall brought the score up to 1-2, at this point Romford had been dominating until this goal.

By half time the score was the same. Fifteen minutes into the second half and City had a number of close chances, but unfortunately a Romford through ball was played down the left and the ball was slotted in the right corner to make the score 1-3 to the opposition. In the 74th minute, City had an unlucky offside call, with a free kick into the box from Liam. Six minutes later, Matijus is forced to come off with an injury and Pranav replaces him.

Another chance for City followed, from Niall, who sent it to the bottom right-hand corner. However the Romford goalkeeper made what was called a “dynamic save” to stop City from scoring.

Four minutes before the end of the game, Romford score one more to make it 1-4 with a play down the middle of the pitch.

Overall, a tough game for Chelmsford but they still fought very hard and will hopefully return to their winning streak soon!
