Free School Meals

Free School Meals/Pupil Premium Letter

The process of applying for Free School Meals at Moulsham High School has changed to an online application in order to improve speed and reduce the hassle of supplying paperwork. The qualifying criteria has not changed, and the Parent(s)/Carer(s) will still need to be in receipt of one of the following:

  • Income Support (IS)
  • Income Based Job Seekers Allowance (IBJSA)
  • Child Tax Credit, provided you are not entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190
  • The guaranteed element of State Pension Credit
  • Income Related Employment and Support Allowance
  • Support under part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999 (from the National Asylum Support Service)
  • Universal Credit

Please read the Policy Statement below for further details.

NB: Working Tax Credits do not qualify you for Free School Meals unless granted to cover the four-week period immediately after employment ceases, or if the hours worked are less than 16 hours per week.

Please click here to apply for Free School Meals and start a New Application.  Please note that you will need your National Insurance Number to apply.

Once an original application has been successfully made, the online OSFM system will regularly check for eligibility, thus avoiding the need for the annual renewals.  However, we ask that Parents/Carers still notify the school immediately of any changes in their financial circumstances that affect their entitlement.

Practices

Parents/Carers will be notified immediately on the ‘OFSM' website if their application is successful; the website is monitored by the school's administration team and, therefore, we do not require notification.

Students who are entitled to Free School Meals will receive a daily payment of £2.30 added to their cashless catering account.  This payment can be used before school, break time or lunch time.  If their £2.30 allowance is not used, the payment will not be carried over to the following school day.  If students wish to purchase other food/drink items that will take them over their daily allowance of £2.30, payment can be added to their lunch account using ParentPay.

Any issues or further help can be obtained from Student Services.
