About Gap Years

A gap year (sometimes referred to as a sabbatical) is when someone takes a break from work or education to travel, volunteer, or work abroad (sometimes all 3!).

A gap year can be beneficial for people who wish to:

  • gain some work experience in their chosen field before continuing their studies
  • explore different places before studying abroad
  • improve their skills or grades before applying for further study
