Pupil Premium And Year 7 Catch Up Grant

Statutory Information for Pupil Premium And Year 7 Catch Up Grant

Pupil Premium is additional funding provided by the Department for Education to enhance the education of most socio-economically deprived (namely those students entitled to Free School Meals, ‘Ever 6’ students, and Looked After Children).

Since the inception of the Pupil Premium Grant, the school has strived to ensure that disadvantaged students are able to access all the benefits of attending Moulsham High School.

The profile of the Pupil Premium Grant is of great importance and this is reflected with the lead role being a member of the Senior Leadership Team, illustrating the seriousness with which the progress and attainment of disadvantaged students is taken at the school.

This approach has reaped great rewards and the school has a strong 4 year trend with Pupil Premium value added and Progress 8 scores both being impressively high. The 2018/19 action plan continues to focus on areas of high impact which meet the individual needs of our disadvantaged learners and looks to remove any barriers to learning and school life.

The impact arising from expenditure of the previous financial year’s Pupil Premium is evident in an array of areas. Progress and attainment are well above the national average, all students sat every exam (2019), there has been a noticeable rise in parental engagement from disadvantaged families, students have good attendance and there has been a vast increase in cultural opportunities.  To achieve these outcomes the school has in place rigorous monitoring and support systems.
