The department is staffed with three fully-qualified specialist teachers, two of whom have experience of working in commerce and industry. The department is committed to raising standards and expanding opportunities at Key Stages 4 and 5.

Some of the most recent initiatives have been the introduction of BTEC Business Level 2 Extended Certificate in Business and also a half-course GCSE Economics as an extra-curricular activity at Key Stage 4.  September 2012 will also see the introduction of GCSE Economics as a full option choice for Year 10 students.

At Key Stage 5, Young Enterprise has been re-introduced and links have been developed with the Ashcroft International Business School, which is part of the Anglia Ruskin University.  BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Business will be introduced to the curriculum from September 2012.
