MOULSHAM STUDENT WINS FINAL OF ‘UNDISCOVERED’ COMPETITION
On Sunday 26th February, a Moulsham High School Sixth Form student, Katy, won the final of the ‘Undiscovered’ Essex Solo Artist Competition. This was a huge achievement as Katy was the youngest contestant, up against adults who have been in the industry for some time. Katy has taken part in the competition for the last three years and finally won through her hard work and determination. Katy won recording time and an amazing opportunity to film a music video, and also walked away with a trophy and a guest slot at the bands final on March 25th at the Colchester Arts Centre.
During 2015 Katy took up guitar and began writing her own songs and won ‘Chelmsford’s Got Talent’, singing two of her original songs, it was then Katy decided to focus fully on her music.
In 2016 Katy won ‘Best Young Breakthrough artist’ at the SEEA AWARDS and was in the finals of Undiscovered Essex.
Katy has used her music to raise money for charities such as Farleigh’s Hospice, British Heart foundation and J’s hospice during the last two years. Katy has recorded a cover of ‘Where Ever You Will Go’ for J’s hospice to use as a soundtrack to their promotional video and has also been invited to sing at the Mayor’s Charity Ball.
Katy is planning on releasing an extended play on the 10th March, which includes five of her own original songs.
