Year 8 trip to Normandy

In June our year 8 pupils are given the opportunity to visit Normandy in France for four days.
Visits are made to Mont-Saint-Michel and Fougeres with cultural aspects brought in, as well as team-building activities with ropes.  We hope for all pupils to come back with a new appreciation for France and a greater sense of general cultural awareness.

Sixth Form Visit to Berlin

Each year, in the week before the Christmas break, year 12 and 13 Germanists have the opportunity to spend 4 days in Berlin, the reunited capital of Germany.  They visit the parliamentary building, sit in on debates, tour the city’s main ZDF TV studios, walk through the American Check Point Charlie border control, witness the horrors of spying in the East at the Stasi Museum, ditto at the Topographie of Terror information centre (former Gestapo Headquarters), take in the bleakness of Sachsenhausen (the first German concentration camp and former Nazi brewery), all the while tracing the demarcations of the now elusive Berlin Wall.  A little dark on the history front, but cheered up by the buzz of the omnipresent Christmas markets – mit Wurst und Glühwein, natürlich….
