Free School Meals

Free School Meals

The process of applying for Free School Meals at Moulsham High School has changed to an online application in order to improve speed and reduce the hassle of supplying paperwork. The qualifying criteria has not changed, and the Parent(s)/Carer(s) will still need to be in receipt of one of the following:

  • Income Support (IS)
  • Income Based Job Seekers Allowance (IBJSA)
  • Child Tax Credit, provided they are not entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual income (as assessed by Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs) that does not exceed £16,190
  • Guarantee element of State Pension Credit
  • Income Related Employment Support Allowance
  • Support under part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999 (from the National Asylum Support Service)

Please read the Policy Statement below for further details.

NB: Working Tax Credits do not qualify you for Free School Meals unless granted to cover the four-week period immediately after employment ceases, or if the hours worked are less than 16 hours per week.

Free School Meals Policy Statement

Principles

Free School Meals are available at Moulsham High School to students whose Parent(s)/Carer(s) successfully complete(s) the online application at www.myfreeschoolmeals.com.

Applications will need to be renewed annually on the ‘My Free School Meal’ website during June to enable the school's administration team to process the renewal ready for the start of the next academic year. Failure to complete the renewed application process will result in your son/daughter being refused a Free School Meal when he/she returns in September. Parents/Carers will be required to notify the school immediately of any changes in their financial circumstances that affect their entitlement.

Practices

Parents/Carers will be notified immediately on the ‘My Free School Meals’ website if their application is successful; the website is monitored by the school's administration team and, therefore, we do not require notification.

Students who are entitled to Free School Meals will receive an annual pass (photo ID card), , which must be shown to a member of catering staff when purchasing food (the member of catering staff will ensure the correct child is using the pass). . The value of the pass is £2.00 and can only be used once each day and in one transaction only. If the annual pass is lost/damaged a replacement card will cost £1). Should the Free School Meals entitlement be withdrawn due to a change in circumstances catering staff will be notified and will retain the annual pass.
